Anyone in the Preston area?
I am interested in building a Locost 7. I have bought Ron Champion’s book but as yet have not seen a car in the flesh. There does not seem to be a Locost Club area for the NW however are there any members in or around the Preston ( Lancashire ) area that might be willing to have a chat / show me their car. Thanks [email protected]

Is there a Structural Engineer in the house?
Hello; I am a high school shop teacher here in Canada, and I have six Locosts under construction in my shop. Although the first Locost probably won’t be ready for well over a year, I have started looking into the process of registering them for the road. Unlike the UK, which seems to have a well-defined policy towards home-builts, I am having a hard time getting any straight answers from the bureaucrats. However, one of them says that we need a letter from a Structural Engineer saying that the design is sound! Is there such a letter in existence floating around the Locost community in England? If so, could we have a copy to save ourselves a lot of aggrevation? Thanks very much for your help. Jason Gadd Pemberton Secondary School

Escort available!
Hi, hope I’ve got the right address for the Locost club. I’m in the kit business and happened to come across quite a nice Escort at a breakers today, not really sure if they’re still wanted but its going to be crushed soon and it seems a shame! Its a Mk.2, 1300 saloon, 47,000 miles, not used for about 10 years but running, looks quite good. If you know of anyone who might be interested please give me a call on 02082933232 and I could put them in touch, Best Wishes, Rob Askew.

Pinto Engine fit
Hi, I am trying to build a car using a 1600cc Pinto from a sierra with a 5 speed box. My chassis has the wider rear end using a cortina rear axle. I am getting really bogged down with tunnel construction and engine position in the chassis. I would appreciate any help from anyone who has used a pinto engine with an approx dimension from either the front top tube LC to the engine or the rear top tube O to the rear of the engine. Also on the chassis I have tryed to follow the advice from the newletter on widening. I think I would require an extra tube across the bottom frame as the distance between B2 and C seems far to great. I think this would also help with tunnel construction.
Any help would be appreciated. Jim Crawford

After a successful year competing in a Locoblade we are looking to build a new car for next year using the Hayabusa powerplant. We would be interested in any information/ advice on such a project.
